From National Service to Community Service? | Breaking Down the Issues
Launched in 2002 and scraped in 2018, Malaysia's national service programme was different from most other countries: its purpose was not for national defence, but for national unity.
What if it can be revived? Not in its original form, but in a format which actually provides service to the community in which these students lived?
This video examines just that idea.

Why Recycling is Not The Answer to Our Plastic Problem | BREAKING DOWN THE ISSUES
The no plastic bag policy, the separation of household waste streams, and the freeze on the importation of non-recyclable plastics. These have not stop plastic bags from clogging our drains, or plastic bottles from being washed by stormwater into rivers, littering our coastline and wreaking havoc to the environment.

What went wrong with Malaysia's national education system? | BREAKING DOWN THE ISSUES
The education system is now more fractured than ever, divided by race and religion, and the “haves” and the “have-nots”. The quality of teachers produced by the teacher training colleges is in question and the discriminatory nature is causing resentment, made worse by those in power who use the minority as scapegoats.

This is the second of two Breaking Down the Issues episodes focusing on education - the first explored the history of schooling in our country and how we arrived at a situation where the schooling system is more fractured than ever with growing division between the haves and have nots and races and religions.
